Event Description:

Defining Climate Policy in the Trump Era: National and International Implications

Wednesday, April 26, 6.30 - 7.45 pm

On January 18, 2017, a report tracking Earth temperatures and drawing upon research by NASA and other organizations confirmed 2016 was the warmest year in history, following trends set in 2014 and 2015, each themselves record-breaking years for global temperatures. Despite these reports, US President Donald Trump expressed doubt that climate change was a proven phenomena, and the new presidential administration removed all information related to climate change from the official White House website at the moment of the presidential inauguration.

What can the world expect from the new administration in the area of mitigating climate change? What powers might the new administration have to roll back national policies and international treaties related to climate change? What might the impact be, particularly for the developing world and nations most affected by rising ocean levels?

Join CGA Adjunct Assistant Professor Michael Shank to examine these questions and more in a panel with other experts on the topic.

Panel includes:

John Sutter, columnist, CNN; creator, “2 Degrees” Project

Valerie Volcovici, Correspondent, Reuters
