This program trains individuals entering the paralegal field in legal concepts and vocabulary, as well as in the practical aspects of working in the legal profession. The program combines a strong foundation in legal concepts with practical, technical training in specialized areas. Graduates of the program are qualified to be legal assistants in organizations where knowledge of law is required. Paralegals must work under the supervision of an attorney and are able to perform all functions of a lawyer except giving legal advice, establishing client relationships, setting legal fees, and presenting a case in court.
The Diploma Program in Paralegal Studies is approved by the American Bar Association.

Join the Wasserman Center for Career Development at SCPS for a Resume Clinic. We will discuss ways to highlight your past work experience, student activities, volunteer and leadership experiences. After the presentation, counselors will sit on-one-one with you to review your resume.
