(Cancelled) McGhee Prior-Learning Assessment Information Session
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

NYU Event Space

In the Prior Learning Assessment Information Sessions, attendees learn the four ways that McGhee students may earn credit for their prior college-level learning. Topics covered will include foreign language proficiency testing, standardized testing (CLEP/UExcel©/Advanced Placement exams), transfer credits, and credits earned through the portfolio process in McGhee's Seminar in Experiential Learning (attending this information session is a prerequisite for entering the Seminar).

The main focus of the assessment will be the prior college-level learning that adults have earned before returning to or starting college. Students will also be given the opportunity to ask questions related to individual academic circumstances.

The session will be held at 7 East 12th Street (between University Place and Fifth Avenue).

Day: Monday
Date: March 28, 2016
Times: 5:00pm-6:00pm

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The Center for Applied Liberal Arts at the NYU School of Professional Studies presents: "ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?" A FOREIGN FILM SERIES. Italian director Federico Fellini once said, “A different language is a different vision of life.” Whether in Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, or Mandarin, the alchemy of cinema’s words and images expose often very different, yet occasionally jarringly similar, visions of our longing to be understood. In this film series we ask, “Are you talking to me?” to situate ourselves in the expanding world of voices and images. Explore different worlds and languages through films, including Babel (Mexico), Central Station (Brazil), Aftershock (China), West Beirut (Lebanon), The Hunt (Denmark), and Departures (Japan). Attend film screenings introduced by NYUSPS instructors.  The following afternoon, continue the discussion in a class at NYUSPS’s Midtown Center. Tuition covers attending class discussions.

Screenings are Mondays at 6:00pm at the National Opera Center at 330 7th Avenue, (between 28th and 29th Streets) Manhattan.
