Event Description The Digital Communications and Media program at NYU’s Paul McGhee Division will present “Media Matters: How the Media Shapes the Environmental Debate” as part of its CrossRoads Series. This CrossRoads installment will offer a viewing of the documentary Home, which covers the history of the human footprint on the planet and how humanity has upset the ecological balance. After the viewing, a panel discussion will be held concerning the responsibility and power of the media professional in shaping public opinion and what can be done to promote sustainability.
The panel consists of McGhee’s Digital Communications and Media Associate Professor Mechthild Schmidt, McGhee’s Associate Director of Curriculum and Clinical Associate Professor of Social Sciences Lisa DiCaprio, and NYU’s Earth Matters Student Initiative Representative Jason Lindy.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. You can RSVP by emailing scpsevents.rsvp@nyu.edu with the subject line Crossroads or by calling (212) 992-7277. A photo ID is required.
